Abstract

1427419 Lamps GTE SYLVANIA Inc 5 Oct 1973 [16 Oct 1972] 46746/73 Heading F4R A lighting fitting comprises an elongate elliptically curved housing 10 having detachable end caps (12) a series of reflector segments 22 positioned in the housing, a lamp holder 18 located at each end of the housing, an elongate tubular lamp 16 disposed in the housing and having tubular seals 38 at its ends, the seals being held by the respective lamp holders, and a shield 20 positioned between each seal and the main portion of the lamp to protect the seal from the radiation emitted by the lamp. Each lamp holder comprises an upper portion 26 fixed to the housing 10 and provided with a V-notch 30 and a removable lower portion 28 provided with a wedge 32 which mates with the notch 30 and has a smaller V-notch 36 adapted to form, in conjunction with the V-notch 30, a diamond-shaped slot to receive the seal 38. The portion of the seal received by the slot carries a ceramic sleeve 40, and a retainer 70 limits horizontal movement of the lamp. The shield 20 has a slot 50 to receive the lamp seal 38, the slot being closed by a door 52 pivoted at 53 and secured by a screw 54.
