Abstract

1427406 Furniture joints NAIGAI MOKUZAI KOGYO KK and T SHIMIZU 16 July 1973 33789/73 Heading F2M A furniture joint utilizes a coupling device comprising (1) one or a pair of open-ended channel members secured respectively to the or each furniture part, each channel member having its flanges inwardly turned to define a slot therebetween and (2) a connecting member either connected to said one channel member and to the other element of furniture or connected to both said channel members, the connecting member having an elongate wall from which extends a plurality of limbs fitted into the or each channel member; a spacing being left between the elongate wall of the connecting member and the base of the channel. The joint between two furniture components A, B, Fig. 1, involves providing same with a recessed channel member 1, 2 having inturned flanges as shown and interconnecting same by an I-shaped member 10 having outturned legs 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. In a modification, Fig. 3, the component B is directly connected to the member A by a spigot la having parallel flanges provided with outturned legs 4a, 4a<SP>1</SP>.
