Abstract

1427183 Rotary couplings SYNTEX CORP 3 July 1973 [21 Aug 1972] 31638/73 Heading F2G [Also in Division H5] A system for cooling a specimen in an X-ray diffraction apparatus (see Division H5) includes double-walled pipes 122, 124 which are rotatably connected together by the provision on each of members 136 and 140 having respectively internal and external matching conical faces which are urged together by springs 52. The conical members 136, 140 can be made of " Teflon " (Registered Trade Mark). An alternative coupling, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises a generally cylindrical sleeve which fits externally on one of the pipes and internally in the other, the surfaces contacting the pipe walls having circumferential grooves.
