Abstract

1427177 Flame cutting CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 16 May 1973 23368/73 Heading B3V A flame cutting machine includes a waste remover comprising a trough 19 positioned below the cutting torches 18 and a support table 12 for the workpiece 14 and means for establishing a spray 28 from upwardly of the trough 19 to filter undesirable fumes and oxide particles from the air adjacent the table 12. The particles produced during cutting of the workpiece 14, which is supported on spaced rails 13, are entrapped by a constant flow of water from inlets 26 over inclined surfaces 21, 22 of an inclined trough 19 having a central sluice 24 leading to a settling pit (not shown). The air pollution is further reduced by a water spray 28 produced by spray nozzles 29 positioned at both sides of the trough 19. The particles saturated by the spray 28, which also cools the workpiece 14, fall into the trough 19.
