Abstract

1427149 Hand tool handles P MARTIN 3 May 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 48873/72 Heading B4K A paint applicator comprises a support pad 22 united on its lower surface with a sheet 23 of paint-loadable material, e.g. mohair, and on its upper surface with a resilient backing 24, a handle 20 providing a platform 28 bounded by a lip 29 adapted to locate and hold the resilient backing in position on the platform, and an adaptor 34 secured to the handle whereby a long pole or rod 39 may be connected to the applicator for use in otherwise inaccessible positions. The adaptor has an inclined tubular portion 38 extending from a platform portion 35 and is releasably held between a grip portion 25 of the handle and upstanding lips 32 at the edges of an aperture 31 in the platform 28. Wedge-shaped projections on the underside of the adaptor platform 35 engage the edges of the aperture 31 to locate the adaptor firmly. Paint may be applied to the mohair surface of the applicator by means of a roller 52 mounted to rotate in a paint reservoir 50, Fig. 9.
