Abstract
1426580 Bridges A P PEDRICK 1 April 1974 46905/73 Heading E1G [Also in Division H2] A bridge comprises a superstructure carrying motorways 17, 18 and tube railways 12 supported either by a plurality of pontoons 20 (which may be constituted by the hulls of unwanted ships), or by a series of buoyant, submersed tubes (Fig. 13, not shown) which themselves carry further railways. Shipping passes beneath the superstructure through large octagonal tubes 23, 24, 26, 27. The rail vehicles and ships may be propelled electromagnetically by large coils surrounding the respective tubes.
