1426234 Label dispensers SATO KENKYUSHO KK 3 July 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 31611/73 Heading B8F A hand-held label dispenser in which a labelcarrying web is intermittently-advanced along a path, including a reverse bend 48, within a casing 1 to successively dispense labels from the web on step-wise one-way rotation of a toothed rotor 17 by a pivotable actuating lever 3, comprises an openable door or bottom member 41 pivoted to the casing at 42, a first base webguide member 26 pivoted on the shaft of the rotor and supported by the door in the closed position, and a second arcuate web-guide member 36, which is pivoted at one end 39 to the casing and linked at the other end to slotted extensions 29 of the first guide member. On opening of the door, after release of a latch 43, the first guide member is pivoted downwards from within the casing and pivots the second guide member away from its operative position adjacent the rotor thereby facilitating loading of the dispenser. A slack loop is formed in the spent web adjacent is formed in the web adjacent the dispensing opening during loading, and this loop is maintained during operation since both the label-carrying portion of the web is and the spent portion of the web are each drivably-engaged by the toothed rotor. The rotor is driven through a linkage 22, 24 and a one-way clutch 20 by spring-return movement of the lever on release of the initially squeezed lever grip 8. The upper surface of the first guide member co-operates with fixed casing shelves 33, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), to guide the label-carrying portion towards the dispensing opening and acts as a platen for a label print device 6 carried on the lever. The lower surface of the first guide member co-operates with upstanding ribs 46 on the closed door to guide the spent web away from the dispensing opening. In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), the lever 3 is actuated by an electric motor 9 through a worm-driven crank mechanism 10- 15.
