Abstract

1425775 Lock nuts MICRODOT Inc 4 Sept 1973 41633/73 Heading F2H A lock nut 10 comprises a body 12 having a through-bore 14 which is provided with a plurality of equally circumferentially spaced, radially outwardly extending grooves 26, land sections 30 having threads thereon being defined between adjacent grooves. The grooves 26 which are arcuate in section extend radially outwardly at least as far as the root of the thread defined by the lands 30 and are radially aligned with alternate corners 24. The nut which may be of metal is, in use, threaded on to a bolt or the like having a thread similar to that of the nut but with a pitch diameter greater than that of the nut so as to provide an interference fit between the threads on the nut and bolt.
