Abstract
1425503 Flexible waveguides SIEMENS AG 23 Feb 1973 [7 April 1972] 8959/73 Heading H1W Distortion of the (rectangular) internal crosssection of a flexible waveguide is reduced by shaping the walls as shown. The guide may be made e.g. from extruded aluminium. Externally, the sides are curved inwardly and extensions 3 are provided at the corners. The shape ensures that, upon bending, the moments which tend to distort the internal shape are counteracted by other moments developed in the walls of the waveguide. In particular, the construction is such that M = h<SP>2</SP>#/6 where M is the moment to be compensated and # is the maximum permissible bending stress in the material from which the guide is made.
