Abstract

1425326 Valves PONT-A-MOUSSON SA 5 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 26642/73 Heading F2V A hot and cold water mixing tap has a pair of telescoped cylindrical slides 15, 16, Fig. 1, movable relatively to one another and to housing 1 to control the spacing between surfaces 39, 40 for controlling the passage of cold water from inlet 6 to mixing space 37 communicating with outlet 7, and the spacing between surfaces 2, 42 for controlling the passage of hot water from inlet 5 to the space 37. The slide 15 is adjusted via coarse thread 8 by manually rotating an axially-fixed nut 11 to alter the flow rate of the mixture, whereas the slide 16 is adjusted in response to the combined action of a temperature responsive capsule 17 and opposed springs 18, 19 of unequal strength. The desired temperature of the mixture is set by manually rotating an axially-fixed knob 12 to axially adjust a screw 13 within a nut 14 and thereby alter the position of an abutment 20 for the plunger 45 of the capsule 17. In order to reduce unwanted temporary variation in the mixture temperature from its set value following relatively large adjustment of the flow setting by the nut 11, the latter also adjusts slightly the position of the abutment 20 via a fine thread 9. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 8 (not shown), the plunger 45 abuts a rigid integral extension of the screw 13.
