Abstract
1425024 Discharging articles from a conveyer at predetermined points HIRD-BROWN Ltd 27 March 1973 [12 May 1972] 22415/72 Heading B8A [Also in Division G4] Discharge of coded articles 3 from a conveyer 2 at appropriate destinations is effected by the reading of the code by a television camera 1. The signal generated thereby is compared with a standard signal, and if the signals agree a servomotor is energized to cause the discharge. As described, the signal from the camera 1 is fed to a monitor screen 4, to a video gate 5, and to a line counter 7. The latter opens the gate 5 at the time an output is obtained, so that the signal then passes to a comparator 12 via a shift register 10, connected to a clock pulse generator 11. The destination code is set up on switches 17, and is also fed into the comparator. The latter generates an output pulse to operate the conveyer mechanism. In an alternative arrangement, the video gate is held open for at least ten lines so as to ensure that blemishes on the article are not confused with the code. The code setting switches 17 may be manually set, or may be set by means of magnetic or punched tape, magnetic disc, punched cards, computer, jacquard-type patterns, or a rotatable set of cams.
