Abstract
1424743 Coated copper conductors HITACHI Ltd HITACHI CHEMICAL CO Ltd and HITACHI CABLE Ltd 29 June 1973 31157/73 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C3 and H1] Copper conductors for use in making cords are first coated with a polyimide lacquer and then with a lacquer prepared by dissolving in a solvent a polyether having a molecular weight of at least 5000 and having repeating units: R is H or C 1-4 alkyl group; R<SP>1</SP> is a divalent aliphatic or aromatic radical, a blocked polyisocyanate so as to provide 0.2-0.8 equivalent of isocyanate group per OH equivalent of the polyether, and from 5-35 parts by wt. of a copolyamide per 100 parts by wt. of polyether plus polyisocyanate. The polyether may be a resin commercially available as a "phenoxy resin", i.e. of the formula I in which R is H. It may also comprise a mixture of such a phenoxy resin and a polyether of formula II in which R is CH 3 and R' is a phenylene radical. A suitable blocked polyisocyanate is bis (m-tolyloxycarbamyl)-4, 4'-diphenylmethane. The copolyamide may comprise a mixture of units derived from hexamethylene adipamide and caprolactam. The conductor may be baked after coating with the polyimide and prior to coating with the lacquer of the invention. The lacquer is sufficiently flexible to form into coils having small diameters.
