Abstract

1424692 Impregnated tissues M SCHAPIRA 14 March 1973 [16 March 1972 16 Oct 1972] 12363/73 Headings A5B and A5E [Also in Divisions A4 D1 and D2] A dry tissue paper for use on the human body comprises at least two active ingredients in a solid carrier having a melting point lower than human body temperature. The active ingredient may be one or more of the following: an antiseptic, a bactericide, a bacteriostat, an anthelmintic, an antiphlogistic agent, an antiperspirant, a fungicide, a deodorant, a lubricant and/or an emollient. Specified active ingredients include thymol, resorcinol, hydroxyquinoline sulphate, aluminium chloride, aluminium chlorohydrate, sodium lactate, aluminium lactate, aluminium salicylate, zirconium hydroxide, menthol, azulene, 2, 4, 4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxy diphenyl ether and 3,3'-dibromo-5, 5'-dichloro dihydroxy diphenyl methane. Specified carriers are ethylene glycol monolaurate, propylene glycol monomyristate, and polyoxyethylene glycol monostearate. The active ingredients together with the carrier may be incorporated into the pulp from which the paper is made, and/or be deposited on one or both surfaces of the paper, or be sandwiched between two sheets which form the tissue. The tissue paper may be in the form of toilet paper, sanitary towel, or towel for removing make-up. A cellulose ester may be admixed with the active ingredients and carrier to form a coating composition which may be applied to the paper tissue.
