1424605 Railway vehicle undercarriages GENERAL STEEL INDUSTRIES Inc 5 Sept 1973 41733/73 Heading B7L A railway vehicle comprises a bogie having a pair of wheeled axles 2, 3 spaced apart longitudinally of the bogie; bogie framing including side frame 7R, 7L and stub transoms 9R, 9L having bent extremities 13R, 13L pivoted by trunnion pins 15R, 15L to side frames 7L, 7R respectively; upwardly facing bearing surfaces 95 on the side frames intermediate the axes; vehicle body structure U posioned above the bogie structure and including separate air reservoirs 71 to 79 at its opposite sides; separate pneumatic spring devices 81, 83 at the opposite sides of the vehicle including upright flexible walled bellows 81 fixed secured at their upper ends to and communicating with the reservoirs respectively and rigid bearing members 83 at the lower ends of the bellows 81 in air communication with the latter, the members 83 at their lower ends being slidably mounted on the surfaces 95; and means in the form of radius arms 96, confining the members 83 to arcuate movement on the surfaces 95 about vertical axes near the centre of the bogie framing and anchor link means 109 for retaining the members 83 against substantial movement lengthwise of the body structure U. Elastomeric and metal plate pad devices 59, 61 are compressed between the stub transoms 9R, 9L and a vertical port 55, 57 carried by the body structure U. In another embodiment the pad devices are replaced by cranked radius arms pivotally connected to a link and the anchor links are outboard of the side frames.
