Abstract

1424469 Bearings G L FORSTER 10 Dec 1974 [2 Nov 1973] 51003/73 Heading F2A Apparatus providing bearing support for a linearly movable member 1 comprises a plurality of bearing assemblies 2A-2D each comprising a mounting block to which are attached a pair of rollers 6 providing a pair of mutually inclined rolling bearing surfaces, the rolling axes of which are longitudinally spaced apart, said bearing assemblies being rigidly supported such that the rollers are in contact with respective mutually inclined linear bearing surfaces provided at each of two longitudinal margins 1A, 1B of the member 1. The bearing assemblies are secured by bolts 7 to a frame 3. The bolts used for mounting the lower two assemblies 2B, 2D may be eccentric so as to afford adjustment of the bearing play. The rollers 6 may comprise ball or needle bearings.
