1423659 Preparation of phosphoramidic compounds IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 May 1973 [9 June 1972 7 July 1972 19 Feb 1973] 31884/72 and 7985/73 Divided out of 1423658 Heading C2P [Also in Division C3] Phosphorus compounds of the formulµ below, together with their preparation and use as Ziegler catalyst components (see Division C3), are described. The compounds have the formula (c) R<SP>11</SP> 2 P(Q) a XP(Q) a R<SP>11</SP> 2 wherein R<SP>11</SP> is halogen, hydrocarbyl, -NR<SP>111</SP> 2 -OR<SP>111</SP>, a heterocyclic group, a group (E-Z-G), or both groups R<SP>11</SP> together form a group of the formula R<SP>111</SP> is a hydrocarbyl group, X is -O-, -NR<SP>1111</SP>, -E(CH 2 ) m E- or a group of the formula R<SP>1111</SP> is hydrogen or R<SP>111</SP>, each L is a bivalent hydrocarbyl radical, each E is -O-, -S-, or -NR<SP>111</SP>, Q is oxygen or sulphur, Z is a bivalent hydrocarbyl radical, a is 0 or 1, and m is an integer. The compounds are obtained by reaction of compounds of the formula with a compound (t) R<SP>11</SP> 2 P(Q) a M where M is the group -OR<SP>111</SP> in one compound and a halogen atom in the other compound, or by reaction of a compound (x) R<SP>11</SP> 2 P(O)Ha with a compound (y) (RN<SP>v</SP>H) 2 CO wherein R<SP>v</SP> is an alkyl group. Examples of these procedures are given to prepare the following specific compounds. The preparation of bis-pyrrolidinochlorophosphine oxide by reacting pyrrolidine with POCl 3 is also described.
