Abstract

1423571 Zero-suppression SHARP KK 6 March 1973 [6 March 1972] 10750/73 Heading G4H In an information entry and indicating system, a plurality of digit keys are provided for entering input signals representing digits, a counter counting the number of key actuations excluding those corresponding to non- significant zeroes, and a series of indicating elements indicating entered digits and being controlled by the counter to inhibit indication of non-significant zeroes. The entered digits are coded into BCD form and stored into a 16-digit recirculating shift register which can subsequently control 16 display tubes (enabled in turn) via a common decoder. The counter is a 16-bit recirculating shift register into which "l" s are loaded, the contents being supplied in parallel to disable appropriate display tubes. Digit entry may be in ascending or descending order of significance. In one embodiment, the second register partially controls entry into the first after the most significant digit.
