Abstract

1423259 Coating compositions BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 24 May 1973 [25 May 1972] 24804/73 Heading C3P A paper coating composition comprises a binder, pigment and as dispersing agent a polymer prepared by polymerizing acrylic acid in the presence of isopropanol and neutralizing the resulting polymer. The composition may also contain antifoaming agents, lubricants, optical brighteners and dyes. In examples, the polyacrylate was prepared by polymerization in aqueous isopropanol using hydrogen peroxide as initiator followed by neutralization with caustic soda. This product was mixed with kaolin or satin white pigment, starch solution, and a styrene/butyl acrylate polymer dispersion to give a coating composition.
