Abstract

1421911 Pattern preparation WILDT MELLOR BROMLEY Ltd 14 May 1973 [2 June 1972] 25886/72 Addition to 1335664 Headings D1C and D1E [Also in Division G3] In a method of preparing pattern information for a knitting machine a pattern outline displayed on a screen is filled in automatically without the need for stitch-by-stitch tracing thereof. Outlines of a pattern representation are traced and the information digitised so that the outlines are displayed on a screen. A random spot generator sweeps the area displayed and infills the area with stitch symbols. Alternatively a symbol may be displayed within the area so that on a command the rest of the symbols are filled-in. As a further alternative the outline is traced a second time and the horizontal lines within the outline filled-in automatically. An amend facility is provided for any erroneous symbols.
