Abstract

1421800 Valves PRATT BURNERD INTERNATIONAL Ltd 30 May 1974 [22 Aug 1973] 39682/73 Heading F2V In a fluid-operated piston-cylinder for actuating a chuck or other work/tool holder a non- return valve assembly having a peripheral sealing member is mounted in a bore of the cylinder having an outer wider portion joined by a tapered portion to an inner narrower portion, the sealing member being compressed by the tapered portion and received in the narrower portion on assembling the assembly in the bore. As shown the assembly comprises an inner body 22, containing a non-return valve 26 and a spool 29, an outer body 23 containing a non-return valve 35, and a sealing plug 24. The assembly is retained by a circlip 43 in a bore 13 having different diameter cylindrical portions 14, 15, 16, 17 joined by tapered portions 18 and is sealed therein by 0-rings 41. Passages 11, 12 are connected to opposite sides of the actuating piston and when one is connected to supply pressure via passage 32 or 37 and the corresponding non- return valve the other is connected to exhaust via passage 37 or 32 and the other non-return valve which is held open by the supply pressure acting on the spool 29.
