Abstract
1421639 Thermoplastic electro-photographic element HOECHST A G 6 July 1973 [10 July 1972] 32262/73 Heading G2C A thermoplastic recording material for frost imaging comprises a carrier having a layer of thermoplastic photo-conductive polymer, the polymer comprising at least one non-cross-linked oligomeric condensation product of formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde with at least one multinuclear carbocyclic aromatic compound and containing 6 to 10 units of one of the following Formulae. wherein X 1 and X 2 are H, halogen, alkoxy (C 1 -4 ) or alkyl (C 1-4 ); X 3 , X 4 , X 5 and X 6 are halogen, alkyl (C 1 -4 ) or alkoxy (C 1-4 ). The condensation product is soluble in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature. The aromatic compound is preferably 3-bromo or chloro pyrene, mono or ditetriary butyl pyrene, isopropyl-pyrene or dichloroperylene. The layer may also include as a binder chlorinated diphenyl, low M.W. polystyrene, a polyester, a hydrocarbon resin, or a glycol ester of hydrogenated colophonium, and as an electron acceptor 2, 4, 7-trinitro-fluorenone or 9- dicyanomethylene-2, 7-dinitro fluorene. Mixtures of condensation products may be used. The carrier may be a polyester film with or without a layer of aluminium or glass coated with tin oxide. The material gives high resolution and may be used with lasers to give holograms. Specification 1404829 is referred to.
