Abstract
1421455 Educational appliances; display devices N HINDMARCH 21 Dec 1973 [26 Jan 1973] 3993/73 Headings G5C and G5G A display device comprises a base-board 1; a row of stacks of tumble-cards 2 hingedly mounted by means of ring-binders 3 on the baseboard, each tumble-card having a tab 7 on one edge and the tabs of each stack being arranged in a staggered manner; and a display card (Fig. 2, not shown) having projections (6) which, when the display card is positioned on the base-board 1, co-operate with selected tabs and thereby retain selected tumble-cards in place whilst allowing the overlying cards to tumble over when the base-board is tilted in the appropriate direction whereby visual information carried by the faces of the retained cards is exposed. As described, the device is adapted for use as a teaching aid, in which the display cards carry pictures and the tumblecards carry letters, the arrangement being such that the cards which tumble over spell the word corresponding to the picture on the particular display card in use (Fig. 3, not shown). In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the tabs 7 are provided on the edges opposite the hinged edges of the tumble-cards rather than on the adjacent edges as in Fig. 1.
