Abstract

1421442 Correcting the alignment and spacing of articles on endless conveyers SIG SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES 27 April 1973 [3 May 1972] 20037/73 Heading B8A Upper and lower endless conveyers 8, and 15, are connected by an inclined shoot 13 which has a concave shape as viewed in elevational cross-section. The speed of the downstream belt 15 is greater than that of the belt 8. This arrangement has the effect of correcting the alignment of slabs of chocolate which are in irregular alignment on the (upstream) conveyer 8. This is because the leading corner of a misaligned slab sliding down the shoot, experiences more resistance that the trailing corner. Also, due to the slope of the shoot, the slab acce erates on the shoot and approaches the belt 15 at a speed which is greater than that of the latter. This tends to slow up the leading corner still more as the slab moves on to the belt 15. Due to the differential speed of the belts, the spacing between them is increased.
