Abstract
1421182 Weighing railway vehicles CONRAIL AB 27 Dec 1972 59706/72 Heading G1W A railway vehicle weighing section comprises a foundation beam 3 in one or each rail, the or each beam 3 carrying a weighing rail section 7 and inter-connecting the ends of the normal rail 1. The beams 3 may be supported on sleepers 2 as shown in Fig. 1b, or the beams may be interconnected by transverse beams which replace the sleepers. The ends of the rails 1 are secured against axial movement by means of pegs 13 or by welding. The beams 3 may be of U, Figs. 1a, 1b and Fig. 2a (not shown), or of I, Fig. 2b (not shown) cross section. The weighing rails 7 are pivotably inter-connected by a shaft or torsion bar 8 and are either supported on load cells 9, Fig. 1b or carry strain gauges 16 on their web portions Fig. 3.
