1421047 Impregnated porous film MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 10 Oct 1973 [12 Oct 1972] 47370/73 Heading B5B An electrical insulating material comprises an insulating oil impregnated film of porous macromolecular material which has an inter-film plane orientation structure the major part of which consists of crystalline synthetic macromolecular material, the porous material having a void ratio of 5-50%, a mean pore diameter of 0À01-1 micron, the ratio of the volume of pores of diameter 10 microns or less to the whole volume of all voids being 90% or more. The film is made by forming a stretched film from a blend of two different macro molecular materials and dissolving away one of the polymers; stretching a blend of two or more macro molecular materials or by rapidly extruding a concentrated solution of a macro molecular material into a non solvent. The film may be cross linked either by chemical or radioactive after treatment.
