Abstract

1420824 Lubricants STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 8 March 1973 [31 March 1972] 11243/73 Heading C5F A gas turbine lubricant base stock comprises (1) 20-90 wt. per cent of an isophthalic ester of formula where R 1 and R 2 are each a C 4 -C 20 primary or secondary alkyl group, and (2) 80-10 wt. per cent of a diester of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and a monohydric alcohol or of an ester of a monocarboxylic acid and a polyhydric alcohol. The mixture of (1) and (2) may be synthesized in situ. Many isophthalates and aliphatic diesters are specified. A lubricant composition is made by adding to the above base stock an oxidant combination of a phenothiazine or N-alkyl phenothiazine, and a secondary diarylamine. Many antioxidants are specified. The lubricant may also contain additives such as a (meth)acrylate, phosphites, phosphates, phosphonates, triazoles, diamines, sebacic acid and methyl silicones.
