1420681 3 - Amino - 1H - pyrazolopyridines HOECHST AG 28 June 1973 [30 June 1972 4 Aug 1972] 30726/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division C4] Numerous 3-amino-H-pyrazolo-[3,4-b]-pyridines have the formula wherein X is H, a primary, secondary or tertiary amino group, a group bound to the aromatic ring by an ether or thioether linkage, an optionally substituted alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical, Y is H, an opt. subs. alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical or a cyano group, W is hydrogen, halogen, optionally substituted alkyl, aryl or alkoxy radical or a nitro group, and Z is H or an alkyl radical, and are prepared by cyclization, e.g. 2- chloro-3-cyano-4,6-dimethyl-pyridine is reacted with hydrazine hydrate.
