Abstract

1419875 Extruded section JULIUS & AUGUST ERBSLOEH 19 Sept 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 43889/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] Panes of glass are spaced apart in a double glazing installation by abutment against the opposite sides 5 of an extruded section 1 containing moisture absorbent, which communicates with the space between the panes, via slot 6 spaced apart along the length of the section wall 2. The groove 3 may be formed during extrusion, or be subsequently cut. The slots 6 are cut, by a circular blade, through a wall portion 4 of reduced thickness defined by a wall groove 3 and which enables cutting of the slots without permanent deformation of the section, in the absence of an internal supporting mandrel. The portion (4), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be defined by a groove (3) in the interior of wall (2) and which may be extended inwardly on each side by strengthening ribs (8).
