Abstract
1418078 Snap-action switches SAIA AG 19 April 1973 [18 May 1972] 19034/73 Heading H1N In a snap action switch the contact blade spring assembly 45, 58, Fig. 4, comprises a pair of parallel strip portions 42 extending between its ends and having a pair of integral central inwardly extending flexibly connected arms 43, 44 engaging a pair of spaced fixed pivots 51, 52. In operation, when the non-contact-making end 46 of the blade is moved by an actuator 40 the strip portions 42 first move over dead-centre at the pivot point 51 whereby the arm 43 snaps over in slot 47 of the actuator 40 to move the strip portions 42 over dead-centre at the second pivot point 52 whereby the arm 44 and contact 45 instantaneously snap between the fixed contacts 53, 54 in a second snap-action. The arrangement is such that contact pressure is maintained until the first snap-action takes place whereupon the second snap-action takes place substantially instantaneously as the contact pressure falls off. The inwardly extending arms 43, 44 may be stiffened by longitudinally extending edge flanges 49, 50.
