Abstract

1417853 Structural joints RAPID METAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 26 April 1973 [2 May 1972] 20247/72 Heading F2M A tube connection assembly for constructing tubular frameworks consists of a sleeve 10 receiving in each end a tube 11 having a groove 12 adjacent its inserted end, the tubes abutting a stop ring (not shown) within the sleeve to position their respective grooves opposite a pair of apertures in the sleeve wall, a housing 13 welded to or formed integrally with the sleeve 10 and containing a sliding plate 14 provided with notches 16, and third and fourth tubes one of which is shown at 19, each of which further tubes has a bent connector portion which is inserted into an aperture 17 or 18 in the housing 13 such that the periphery of the connector portion extends into a corresponding one of the apertures in the sleeve 10 so as to engage the groove 12 in a respective tube 11 to lock the latter in the sleeve 10, a conical end 20 and groove 21 of the connector portion co-operating with notch 15 or 16 to lock the assembly.
