1417553 Displaying geophysical data SEISCOM Ltd 26 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971 10 Nov 1971 20 Dec 1971] 29624/75 29625/75 and 29626/75 Divided out of 1417552 Heading H4D [Also in Division G1] A display of a plurality of geophysical functions measured along a line of profile or in a borehole is formed by (a) establishing a trace whose length dimension represents distance along the profile or depth in the borehole and (b) representing at least three such functions by modulation of the density of respective colours applied in superimposition to the trace. Examples of functions are seismic vibrations, interval velocity, seismic vibration coherence, gravity or magnetic survey readings, and acoustic, electric or neutron well-logging parameters. The display is produced by a digitally. controlled laser-beam plotter, by a colour C.R.T., by modulated coloured'light sources in conjunction with a colour sensitive photographic film, or by forming monochrome transparencies which are then illuminated by coloured light. A further function may be represented as a variable-area or variabledensity trace superimposed on the coloured display.
