Abstract

1416796 Sliding door operating appliances SIEMENS AG 12 Feb 1973 [10 Feb 1972] 6855/73 Heading E2M [Also in Division H2] In a driving and braking device for operating a sliding door 1, the door is attached to a rail 2 forming the first element of a linear electric motor which co-operates with the stator element 3 of the linear electric motor, the stator element 3 being provided with a three-phase winding 4 for generating a linearly moving magnetic field, the stator element further comprising a D.C. braking winding 5 for exerting a braking force on the rail 2. As illustrated in Fig. 4, the rail may be formed with a triangular shaped flux-return member 7 co-operating with a triangular-shaped member 9 on the stator element 3 to effect electromagnetic locking of the door 1. The coil width S w of the D.C. braking winding may have twice (or a multiple thereof) the pole pitch of the three-phase winding 4.
