1416690 Pulse modulation circuits; pulse and sawtooth wave generators BAILEY METERS & CONTROLS Ltd 28 March 1973 [7 Jan 1972] 907/72 Headings H3T and H4L [Also in Divisions G3 and H2] In a retroactive control system, a relaxation oscillator 6 receives from a summator 4 a signal derived from an error signal and supplies signals at a frequency dependent upon the magnitude of the input signal and of opposite polarities to the terminals 61, 62 of drive circuitry 7 (Fig. 5, not shown) for a stepping motor. The oscillator 6 comprises a capacitor 64, which depending upon the polarity of the input signal is charged in one sense or the other through an amplifier 63, and rectifiers 65, 69, which are each connected between a respective terminal 61, 62 and the input of an amplifier 66, the arrangement being such that, whenever the voltage at said amplifier input reaches a predetermined magnitude and polarity, the capacitor 64 is discharged by a field-effect transistor 60 for both senses of charge of the capacitor. In the embodiment described, when the input signal is positive sawtooth waves of negative and positive polarities respectively appear at terminals 61, 62; and vice versa when signal 5 is negative.
