Abstract

1416578 Skylights; frame joints ROPER CORP 11 July 1973 [14 Aug 1972] 32998/73 Headings E1J and E1R A method of assembling skylight structures comprises positioning rafters 15, lowering purlins so that projections 22 at each end of the purlins rest on adjacent rafters so that the ends of condensate channels 23 in the purlins open over condensate channels 24 in the rafters, and securing glazing panels 12 to the rafters and purlins. Projection 22 is formed by cutting away part of the end of the purlin. The projection is positioned in notch 29 with walls 31, 33 abutting and the end of channel 23 spaced from a wall 69 on the rafter. Pins 45 secured to the projection 22 extend into channel 24. Pins 57 are inserted into channel 59 in the purlin and apertures 61 in the wall 69. The panes are secured by a cap 86 and a screw 89 engaging walls 93. Blocks (81, 82) may be provided to support the edges of the panes. In Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) I-section rafters and purlins support two layers of glazing panels, and no notch is provided for the projection (105).
