Abstract

1416385 Electromagnetic clutches CENTRALNE BIURO KONSTRUKCYJNE OBRABIAREK 28 March 1973 [5 April 1972] 14865/73 Heading F2C In an electromagnetic friction or positive clutch having a stationary electromagnet 11 mounted on a body 13 the driving member 2 and body 13 have a bearing 14 between them on each side of which is an air gap, X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>11</SP> to provide parallel radial paths 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> for the flux 7. The clutch shown in Fig. 1, has a disc stack 3, 4 between driving member 2 and a driven member 5, an armature 6 engaging the clutch on energization of electromagnet 11. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the clutch is positive, with facial teeth between driving and driven members, this embodiment also having a plain bearing of magnetically impermeable material in place of the rolling bearing shown, which plain bearing may be used in the illustrated clutch (Fig. 2, not shown).
