Abstract

1416229 Nickel-cadmium cells VARTA BATTERIE AG 18 June 1973 [19 June 1972] 28882/73 Heading H1B A gas-tight Ni-Cd cell comprises positive and negative plate groups both of which comprise a combination of paste electrodes and sintered electrodes. In Fig. 1 the positive plate group comprises sintered electrodes 3 and a paste electrode 4 connected by a connector 6 and the negative plate group comprises sintered electrodes 1 and a paste electrode 2 connected by a connector 7, the electrodes being spaced by separators 5. A button cell incorporating the plate groups of Fig. 1 is described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown). In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the positive plate group comprises two sintered electrodes and two paste electrodes and the negative plate group comprises four sintered electrodes and a central paste electrode. The positive paste electrodes may include an antipolar mass and the negative electrodes may have a greater capacity than the positive electrodes.
