Abstract

1416106 Revaporizing liquefied gases BLACK SIVALLS & BRYSON Inc 9 Oct 1973 46993/73 Heading F4P A method of vaporizing and combining cryogenic liquid supplied from a reservoir 34 by a pump 38 with a gas stream 12, comprises separating the stream 12 into two parts, one part passing through conduit 14 where-.it is compressed at 16 before being heated in heater- 22 and then passing to a contactor apparatus 26 where the heated gas in line 24 is brought into direct heat-exchange with the cryogenic liquid in line 32, the mixture of the gas and vaporized liquid being recombined with line 12, and the compression at 16 being sufficient to ensure that the mixture is at a pressure which is not less than that at which the gas stream is divided. A fuel control valve assembly 42 senses the temperature of the mixture to regulate the fuel quantity in a feed-line 41 for heater 22. The contactor apparatus, Fig. 3, comprises an inlet 104 for the heated gas, a nozzle inlet 111 for the cryogenic liquid and a mixture outlet 116. Compressor 16 can be replaced by a blower 56 driven by a gas turbine 58, the exhaust gas of which are used to pre-heat the gas before it passes to the heater. Examples given for the gas and cryogenic liquid are natural gas and LNG. Part of the mixture can be recycled.
