Abstract

1415989 Valves INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO 31 May 1974 [31 May 1973] 24218/74 Heading F2V In order to reduce axial forces on a landed valve spool having a throttle formed by a notch such as 90a in a land, or by a chamfer on the land, a cavity 94a is provided which extends into the radial interior of the spool and opens radially outwardly into the throttle alone, i.e. does not open outwardly into shank 64. A further throttling notch 90b and associated cavity 94b are provided diametrically opposite notch 90a. The cavities 94a, 94b may merge at their radially inner ends. The spool may form part of a multi-way valve controlling the flow of actuating liquid to and from an hydraulic motor (16, Fig. 1, not shown).
