Abstract

1414899 Feeding and associating sheets H BESSMANN 17 Jan 1973 2484/73 Heading B8R Flat and flexible workpieces such as textile pieces 1, Fig. 1, are separated from the top of two piles by separators 3 comprising suction cups, reels of adhesive tape or needle pick-ups, and brought together into face-to-face juxtaposition ready for pairing by sewing or welding. The separators are mounted on separate rams 4 and after raising the top workpieces are rotated into the dash-line position. In another form, Fig. 2, the separators 3 are mounted on arms 10 pivoted on a single arm 9 and are brought together on rising by arms of a bracket 14. In another form, Fig. 4, a cable 21 secured to the fixed frame 16 pulls apart the arms 10 as the arm 9 is lowered, and the arms 10 move together under gravity as the arm 9 rises. In another form, Fig. 5b, two pairs of separators 3, 3a bring together a workpiece from each of four piles 1, 1a. In another form, Fig. 6 (not shown), a pair of workpieces brought together is held by an auxiliary holder (24) while the separators bring together a further pair of workpieces, so that finally a plurality of workpieces are held by the holder (24).
