1414534 Monitoring nuclear reactors SIEMENS AG 26 July 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 35747/73 Heading G6C In a method of testing the functioning of a neutron detector, disposed externally of the core of a reactor for measuring reactor neutron flux, or weak neutron source is placed near the detector and such output signal as is produced by the latter is processed in the safety monitoring means of the reactor. The detector may be arranged externally of the reactor pressure vessel. The reactor may employ natural uranium and be moderated by D 2 O. Where a plurality of detectors is provided, they may be tested cyclically. A definition of what constitutes a "weak" neutron source is provided.
