Abstract

1414365 Wired broadcasting ENTRON Inc and J I ROSS 20 July 1973 [1 Aug 1972] 34763/73 Heading H4R [Also in Divisions H1 and H2] A multi-tap distribution box for conveying television signals to subscribers comprises a plurality of taps each associated with a respective key-actuated connector which in the absence of a key connects the tap to earth and in the presence of a key connects the tap to a supply signal, therebeing a keyway for each tap and guard means to block or clear all the keyways simultaneously. Each key K comprises a slot K 4 and a conductive pad 19 and is insertable in a keyway 14A-14D such that the pad 19 makes connections and disconnections between selected contacts 1-6 in the connector 15A- 15D associated with the respective tap 12A-12D. A guard plate 22 is slidably secured between two positions to a chassis 17 of the box and has notches 25A-25D alignable with the keyways 14A-14D and the slots K 4 so as to permit or prevent entry and withdrawal of the keys according to its position. The signals are connected to an input terminal 30 via a coil 32 to an output terminal 31 and are fed to the tap points by signal splitting coils 33-37 which are connected to contacts 1. With a key present contacts 1 and 2 are interconnected to feed the signals to the tap, contacts 3 and 6 are connected for feedback to a control station. Without a key the tap and coil are earthed through contact 5 and contact 4 and resistor 21b.
