1414198 Anti-theft arrangements for vehicle bonnets FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 10 April 1973 [27 April 1972] 17069/73 Heading B7J An anti-theft arrangement for vehicle bonnets comprises a bonnet latch 16 operated from the passage compartment by a push-pull cable 21, the inner core of the cable passing through a housing 28 mounted on the steering column 14 and having a slug 34 mounted thereon which is guided by the walls of housing recess 32, and a rod 25, connected between a key-operated ignition device and an ignition switch, passing through the housing such that when the ignition is switched off an abutment 35 on the rod blocks the slug and prevents release of the bonnet latch, but when the ignition switch is in the accessory, start or running position the abutment 35 is out of the path of the slug and the bonnet may be released.
