1414139 Tipping containers TELEHOIST Ltd 22 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 15139/72 Heading B7B A vehicle has an open ended chassis 1, Fig. 1, and a parallelogram-type linkage on each side member 2 of the chassis, the linkages being connected to a frame 7 supporting a container with means to raise and to tip the frame. As shown in Fig. 1, the frame 7 is supported on links 8, 9 which are connected by longitudinal links 25, the frame being pivotally attached to the rear pair of links 8. Hydraulic rams 13 controlled by a tractor mounted control valve (not shown) are extended to raise frame 7 which engages beneath a top rim of the container Fig. 5 (not shown). On raising, the links 8 engage abutments 22 while latching struts 21 drop behind abutments 24 on the chassis after riding up ramp faces of the abutments. The rams are further extruded to lift the frame 7 off the front links 9 for rearward tipping about the pivotal connection to the rear links 8. As the frame is raised a latching member 16 moves automatically by means of a linkage 17, 18, 19, over a rearward projection of the container which is thus secured during subsequent tipping. For lowering the frame 7, ram pressure is temporarily applied to take the container load, and lever 26 is actuated to pivot, via linkage 28, bell crank lever 29 which engages a pin 30 of strut 21 to raise the strut above the abutment 24 for subsequent lowering of the frame under gravity. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, latch members 21a hook around abutments 24a on the chassis when the raised non-tapped position is reached. The latch member 21a may be released by a bell crank lever 29a actuated by release linkage 27, 28. Prior to tipping front frame pivot 12 is latched to front links 9a by a hook-link member 38 pivoted to frame 7 and engageable below upper link pivot 12. Movement of the rod 28 in the rearward direction swings member 38 clear of pivot 12 so that ram extension tips the frame 7 and container as before.
