Abstract

1413874 Hydrocracking catalyst ATLANTIC RICHFIELD CO 10 Jan 1973 1406/73 Heading BIE [Also in Division C5] A hydrocracking catalyst comprises (a) a major amount of a support derived by the calcination of a material comprising 30 to 70% wt of silica and 30 to 70% wt alumina, the silica and alumina being supplied by a mixture of 40 to 90% wt of amorphous silicaalumina and 10 to 60% wt of a hydrous alumina which is boehmite or amorphous hydrous alumina or a mixture thereof, and (b) a minor amount of a catalytic agent which is at least metal component wherein the metal is a Group VIb metal. a Gp. VIII metal or a mixture thereof. Specified metals are Mo. W and mixtures thereof present in an amount from 10 to 30% wt, Ni or Co and mixtures thereof present in an amount from 2 to 15% wt, or a platinum group metal present in an amount of 0.1 to 2% wt. The metal component may be present as metal, oxide or sulphide. In the Examples, the catalysts contain Ni and W or Ni and Mo. The catalysts are sulphided before use.
