Abstract

1413680 Coated products GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 17 Oct 1972 [11 Nov 1971] 47802/72 Heading B2E A tyre cord has at the surface less than 0.5 parts per weight per 100 parts of the cord of a polyisocyanate and deposited thereon a second coating containing an addition product of polyisocyanate and a water-soluble thermoplastic resin resulting from the reaction of an aldehyde and a phenol, the resinous rection product of a phenol and an aldehyde and a rubber latex. Numerous suitable isocyanates are listed. The tyre cord may be made of regenerated cellulose in the form of rayon, linear polyamides such as nylon 6 and nylon 66 and aromatic nylon such as p-aminobenzoic acid polymer, linear polyesters such as polyethylene terephthalate, linear polyaminotriazoles, glass fibres, linear polycarbonates, linear polyethers and polyurethanes, wire and linear polyolefins. The resinous reaction product may be of resorcinol and formaldehyde-and the rubber may be a styrene/butadiene-1, 3/vinyl pyridine 15/70/15, or a natural rubber composition.
