Abstract
1413661 Polyisocyanurate foams SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 5 April 1973 [7 April 1972] 16093/72 Heading C3R In a process for preparing polyisocyanurate foams by reacting a polyol with an organic polyisocyanate under foam-forming conditions, there being at least 1À5 equivalents of isocyanate groups for each equivalent of active hydroxyl groups of the polyol, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a trimerization catalyst and a compound capable of co-ordinating to metals. In examples foams are prepared by reacting diphenylmethane diisocyanate with a glycerol initiated propylene oxide adduct and with polypropylene glycol, the trimerization catalysts being a tertiary amine catalyst, potassium acetate and trisdimethylaminomethylphenol and the co-ordination compounds being acetylacetone, ethylacetoacetate and 8-hydroxyquinoline; the reaction mixtures also contain dipropylene glycol, a silicone oil, trichlorofluoro methane and tris-#-chloroethyl-phosphate.
