Abstract
1413095 Centrifugal blowers AMETEK Inc 1 Feb 1974 04728/74 Heading F1C A first housing portion surrounds a centrifugal impeller to provide an impeller chamber having an outlet and an inner wall which is apertured to provide an eye opening to and aligned with the impeller intake; a second housing portion forms an antechamber discharging through the eye into the impeller intake and having first and second inlets for respective fluid streams opening to the antechamber at regions spaced angularly from each other about the axis of and radially outwardly from the eye; and means including a diffuser-like vaned structure divides the circumferential space in the antechamber into at least two annular sectors each receiving a fluid stream from a respective inlet and directing each sector discharge into the eye at a respective peripheral portion of the eye. Air entering via an inlet R, Fig. 2, passes via a first-stage impeller F-3, interstage stator blading 12v, a second-stage impeller F-2 and thence via an annular series of louvres 31b, Fig. 3, in a disc 31 into stator blading 11z, where it is joined by air entering via a further inlet Q, the flow being confined by elongated stator blades 1 lx, 1 ly to a sector extending anti-clockwise from the blades 11x. Air entering via a third inlet P is confined by the blades 11x, 11y to a sector forming the remainder of the stator. Both flows pass via an opening I in a wall 11b to a third-stage impeller F-1, which discharges to an outlet D leading to atmosphere. An annular portion 11s of the wall 11b is offset to provide a larger flow area towards the outlet D.
