Abstract

1412984 Mine arch supports COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 19 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972] 49649/72 Heading E1E In an articulated mine roof support comprising first and second joint members adapted to be connected at one end as by welding to the associated roof section 3 or leg section 4, one joint member 5 has a recess 12 to accommodate a projection 21 on the other joint member and at least one of the abutment faces thereof is curved. The joint member 5 has an extension 11 to potition the roof section 3. In a modification, Figs. 5 and 6 of the Provisional Specification (not shown) the joint members are bifurcated to seat on the web of the associated section and are then welded and bolted thereto. Two such arch members as above may be interconnected to-gether by tubular struts and wire mesh.
