Abstract

1412718 APC systems LOEWE OPTA GmbH 10 July 1973 32714/73 Heading H3A An AFC circuit arrangement comprises a controlled oscillator 1 including a varicap diode 2, a pulse generator 9 for converting alternately the outputs of the oscillator 1, a reference generator 8 into corresponding D.C. voltage pulses which via a resistor 10 and a switch 6 charge up integrating capacitors C1, Cref. respectively, a first operational amplifier 11 for comparing the outputs of C1, Cref. to produce a differential output, a second operational amplifier 12 for comparing the above differential output with a variable reference voltage tapped from a tuning potentiometer 13 to produce a control voltage for oscillator 1. The arrangement may also include a third operational amplifier 15 supplied with the voltage across Cref. and a constant reference voltage tapped off potentiometer 13 for controlling the generator 9 in a manner to readjust the D.C. voltage across Cref. to a required valve, e.g. across R2 on potentiometer 13, independent of temperature and supply voltage variations. Thus the integrated voltages across C1, Cref. corresponding to the controlled and reference frequencies are affected equally by the above variations and a more stable output frequency is obtained from the loop. The range of output frequencies obtainable may be extended by use of appropriate mixers and frequency dividers preceding a switching circuit 5.
