Abstract
1412545 Glass melts ACI OPERATIONS PTY Ltd 7 Aug 1973 37492/73 Heading C1M To reduce foam formation during changeover from a first to a second glass melt of different oxidation state (defined) and colour, the oxidation state of the first glass melt towards that of the second melt prior to the introduction or removal of colourants to produce the colour of the second melt. Suitable oxidizing agents are dichromates, arsenic, sodium sulphate gypsum, barytes and nitre. Suitable reducing agents include slag, aluminium powder, cyanides, carbon, sulphur, calcium sulphide, ferrous sulphide, iron pyrites and iron chromite.
